Spring Overhaul For Aisling Designs:

While we have only a few weeks left of winter, I am always beyond eager to say goodbye to a time of stagnation.  Embarking on spring each year, I like to go back to the drawing board. Start mustering up new, and fun ideas. People are ready to start purging clutter, deep spring clean their homes, and, look for new ways to show self expression through their sacred spaces; home.

As a designer, I can tell you winter is an incredibly slow time of the year. Often a stressful one. No one is really thinking about moving, starting a large design project, or having the resources financially to do so with the holiday season in placeI find that I have to be creative in ways to maintain not only traction in my work; but keeping a consistent presence.  So, I have done a deep clean of my website, for starters. Giving it a fresh spring look. Updating all my pages to show accurate information. And, what ancillary products I am going to carry through the upcoming seasons. This takes an incredulous amount of time, and effort, but its well worth the while! For my online shop, I will be carrying my plush designer minky throws (a favorite producing product of mine).

Also, some new amazing freshly scented linen sprays! More details to come, as I am still fine tuning the aromas!

Stay tuned for new linen sprays!

One of my most favorite scents for this time of the year is a clean crisp, non floral scent. One that is reminiscent of opening your windows to allow fresh airflow and the smell of just.. “fresh”!

And kids will love our plush mementos. Keep memories of important moments close at hand with personalized presents from our exclusive collection. They are timeless in their making of embroidery, elaborate fringe, designer Rifle Paper textiles, and a modern, yet vintage look. A perfect gift for any Mother to be. It is a concept that was inspired by my daughter. I made her a keepsake and she cannot leave the house with out it. I never replicate the designs, as each one is very unique and individual in its appeal and color presentation. The concept here is that these can never be mass produced, they are an extremely high end keepsake that is made by a local, small scale, trademarked brand. They are truly one of a kind. And made with love!

The New Spring Trend In Color And Design For Spring Of 2020:

Getting to the trend of the 2020 start off, is my favorite topic of design; color! As many know or have heard, both Royal blue, and pink are the trending colors. I find it to be an interesting mix for several reasons: They are triadic to one another, they can work independently of each other and still make a bold statement, its abundance in color clashing will be the trend of 2020 and the new decade! Personally, I like bold colors with a monochromatic black scale.

That way, any color I choose to integrate into my own personal designs doesn’t clash, overwhelm the eye, or create more than one focal point. Instead, its allowing the eye to transition through a space smoothly and bring focus to your “color pop”.  Choosing a design technique like this also allows for more depth of textiles, and accents with out being completely overwhelmed.

These colors are hues, bold in their statements, and suggestive of a historic but modern influence. While midcentury modern will always be a classic style to go with. The colors of 2020 indicate a slight shift in decor, and, design itself. As millennials are starting to play into the housing market and ultimately affecting consumerism of furniture and accents for their homes, many professionals in this industry are seeing seeing vast differences. A more modern bohemian style; largely influenced undertones from the 1920’s and 30’s. Furniture with softer edges, more organically shaped, rather than geometric in their form. Textiles will be more ornate, and lavish.

So, the shift is subtle, yet profoundly noticeable. Lighter woods, less grain, bolder colors, and ornate textiles and wall paper are being used for expression over stark geometric furniture.

Research in the design world also indicates that millennials, above all other generations are more eco-conscience with their consumerism habits. Showing an increase in what used to be called family heirlooms. Incredibly expensive furniture that is built with high quality and meant to last. They are back! As the younger generations are making a consumer mark with sustainability and biophilic designs.

They are always on the hunt for unique or locally crafted items, over mass produced ones. Maybe traditionalism is going to sneak up on us again! As they say: history commonly repeats itself. And the world of design is not an exception to this rule. What is particularly interesting about the shift in design and color being a main key indicator (as I have found it to be). Is that people are more and more eager about DIY projects, buying local, the clash of extreme colors, and mixing of styles. This decade is going to be all about what best reflects an individuals personality, not what is “trend”. No more catalog shopping, which could have an interesting impact on some of our most cherished decor companies. It will be interesting how they choose to try and recapture the newer generations that are ever so increasingly concerned, conscientious, and ready for rapid change.
