My Favorite weeds and Summer Home Touches

Hello! Hope you’ve been doing okay! It has been a seriously long time since I’ve posted! If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen what we’ve been up to and if not, the quick summary is, we have been SUPER BUSY! With staging still going strong in Boise’s Real Estate market. And most importantly, my Interior Design projects, and personal home projects.

I’m already planning and excited for my blog post in August as it will be covering a gorgeous Estate I have been renovating with a client of mine for over a year now. It’s been a lot of work and collaboration, and all of the efforts are about to pay off! I am so excited to share the final product and give insight and background on it, as its truly one of a kind and the details are all custom!

I have had some down time, but not much these last several months, and I love decompressing at home and using my creativity to enhance my little rancher home that I have been making gradual updates on for the past six years. One of my musts, every summer is to spruce up my curb appeal and add a fresh coat of paint to my doors. It really adds vibrancy, and freshness to your home after the harsh winter season.

I’m utterly in love with Benjamin Moore’s Wild Astrid. It’s a perfect blend of beige and delicate pink that is fitting for a 1940’s-1950’s home

Flowers and Weeds in Bloom:

It’s that time of year (depending upon where you live, this post could be a little early!) when my favorite weeds, Queen Anne’s lace and Wild Chicory, are popping up alongside of roads, in fields & generally anywhere there’s untended dirt. One of my favorite flowers (if not favorite ) is Queen Anne’s Lace. It was named after Queen Anne, who was adept at lacemaking. Many of the flowers have reddish/ purple blooms in the center and it’s said that it’s a drop of Queen Anne’s blood from pricking her finger while making lace.

“What is a weed? A plant whose virtues have never been discovered.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson.

My Most favorite flower of all time is the incrediball Hydrangea. They are so cheerful, whimsical and With immense flower heads, hydrangeas flaunt an old-fashioned charm. Our Hydrangea Growing Guide provides information on how to plant and care for these flowering shrubs. Plus, find answers to common questions, such as why your hydrangeas aren’t blooming this year. Unrivaled in the shrub world for their beautiful flowers, these elegant plants are easy to cultivate, tolerate almost any type of soil, and produce abundant blooms. Colors beguile with clear blue, vibrant pink, frosty white, lavender, and rose blossoms—sometimes all blooming on the same plant! My favorite has always been white as it’s so soothing and elegant.

Cabinet Makeover:

I love my little mid century rancher home, as a designer I often crave little changes here and there just to add a new level of excitement to my home. I was so excited to find this wall paper at Target and tackled the back wall in my upper kitchen cabinets. I love the vintage inspired black and white, paired with the retro weeds! I’ve been attracted to large-scale murals & etchings & toiles lately as you can see. But for this little area the scale is perfect.

I think we all envision a home and a life in which we have the time and spaceto be with our families & friends. Some call it the “good life.” It’s a home with simple luxuries… where things are made easy so we can spend our time doing what we really want to do. It’s a life & home with the perfect balance of function & beauty. These are just some of the iconic things that come to mind for me when thinking of the ideal home… how about you?
